I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling really uneasy lately about the recent state of affairs in this country.
Two Saturdays ago when I was wet and smashed in a crowd for well over an hour waiting for the Women’s March in Portland to start, I went back and forth between feeling extremely claustrophobic and panic-stricken to using my breath to calm myself down to feel more at ease and inspired by what I was a part of.
That’s exactly how the last few weeks have felt for me as well – cycling between feelings of despair and hope.
I happened to grow up in a conservative home and a conservative town, and later realized that my values align more with a liberal mindset and I now live in a liberal town. But, no matter what political party I’m involved with, first and foremost I’m a human who cares deeply for all humans – no matter your race, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or how much money you make. I believe very much that we are all connected and we are all the same.
It’s been so hard to be excited about anything these last few weeks, because of the recent events. I wanted to share all the plans I have for this year, and to celebrate my accomplishments from 2016.
But, for now, I’ll tell you what I’m up to today.
Today I’m proud to be working for Mercy Corps, I’m proud to have worked with Nike for 13 years and I’m proud to be sending bird wisdom out into the world.
I started working on this watercolor hummingbird today, in fact, and I’ve recently been reminded that birds are messengers. I love this metaphor. I really hope this little guy has something good to say to you!!
It’s for sale and not in my shop yet. Message me for details.

This was my process…
This is a painting that I started last week and I’m finishing it up today. It’s called Flow. 24″ x 24″, acrylic on canvas. It’s not in my shop yet either, but is for sale. Message me for details.
